The funding came in two major tranches. In March 2026, VAST closed a $50 million Series A led by Alibaba. This was followed by an additional ~$150 million round in June-July 2026 from a diverse group of strategic investors including Geely Capital, 4399, Giant Network, and Fosun. Song’s product, Tripo Studio, is a comprehensive 3D generation platform that supports text-to-3D, image-to-3D, and sketch-to-3D workflows. The platform generates production-ready models compatible with Unity, Unreal Engine, Maya, and Blender, eliminating weeks of manual 3D modeling work for game developers, filmmakers, and designers.
The adoption numbers are striking. Tripo AI has attracted over 10 million global users and 90,000+ enterprise developers, with nearly 100 million 3D assets generated on the platform to date. Annual recurring revenue stands at $12 million, with more than 80% coming from overseas markets — an unusually high international ratio for a Chinese AI startup. Key enterprise clients include Tencent, NetEase, ByteDance, Alibaba, SAIC Motor, and Sony.
Beyond 3D content generation, VAST is building what it calls “Project Eden” — a world model designed for embodied AI and robotics training. This ambitious initiative aims to create a foundation model for physical world simulation, enabling robots and autonomous systems to learn and operate in realistic 3D environments. The Project Eden effort positions VAST not merely as a 3D asset generator but as a contender in the broader spatial intelligence race.
