Constellium and EOS Partner to Bring Next-Generation Aluminum Alloys to Industrial 3D Printing

On July 7, 2026, Constellium (NYSE: CSTM, US$8.4B 2025 revenue), a global leader in aluminum product development and recycling, announced a strategic partnership with EOS, the German industrial 3D printing leader, to accelerate the industrial adoption of aluminum additive manufacturing. The partnership is effective immediately, with materials available from August 2026.

Two advanced alloys are at the heart of the collaboration. Aheadd CP1, Constellium’s high-performance aluminum alloy, will be added to the EOS portfolio as EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1. It is positioned as a direct upgrade to AlSi10Mg, the current workhorse of aluminum 3D printing, offering higher strength with good elongation, simplified heat treatment requiring no quenching, and stable processing at high laser power since it is free of volatile elements (magnesium, zinc). CP1 also boasts excellent corrosion resistance, good electrical and thermal conductivity, and is easily anodized and suitable for electrochemical polishing — making it ideal for heat exchangers, semiconductor equipment, and parts in corrosive environments.

The second material, Al5X1 — a 2023 TCT Awards winner originally from EOS — will be renamed EOS Aluminium Constellium Al5X1 and added to Constellium’s portfolio. It is a high-strength, high-elongation, heat-treatable, and anodizable alloy designed for demanding applications in aerospace, transportation, and motorsport.

“This partnership represents a unique opportunity to bring next-generation aluminium alloys into industrial additive manufacturing at scale,” said Ludovic Piquier, SVP of Manufacturing Excellence and CTO of Constellium. Joachim Zettler, CTO of EOS, added: “With EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1, EOS Aluminium Constellium Al5X1, and our partnership with Constellium, we are setting a new benchmark for aluminium in additive manufacturing.”

Beyond the two announced materials, the partnership establishes a long-term framework for co-developing next-generation aluminum alloys for additive manufacturing. For the industry, this signals a maturation of aluminum AM: the largest aluminum product developer in the world is now directly invested in making 3D printing a mainstream production method, not just a prototyping tool. For manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor sectors, the arrival of production-ready, high-performance aluminum alloys removes one of the last barriers to adopting metal AM at scale.
