Bambu Lab Launches H2D Large-Format Printer with Dual-Head Multi-Material Printing

Source: All3DP

On July 7, Bambu Lab officially launched its first large-format consumer 3D printer — the Bambu Lab H2D. The new model boasts a build volume of 400x400x400 mm, 3.8 times that of the flagship X1 series (256x256x256 mm), directly competing with the Creality K3 and Prusa XL.

The H2D’s key highlight is its Dual Independent Hotend System 2.0 (DIHS 2.0), with a maximum temperature difference of 120°C between the left and right hotends, enabling hybrid material combinations such as PLA + PEEK and PETG + TPU. The printer comes standard with laser bed leveling, closed-loop stepper motors, and active chamber heating up to 80°C, significantly reducing the risk of warping when printing engineering-grade plastics.

In terms of pricing, the base H2D (single-head) starts at $999, the dual-head version at $1,299, and the AMS HT multi-color upgrade module is sold separately for $349. The company says the first 10,000 units are already in production, with shipping expected to begin at the end of July.

Analysts note that Bambu Lab’s move brings the entry point for large-format printing to the $1,000 range — previously, machines with comparable specs were typically priced above $2,500. The H2D is poised to replicate the X1 series’ market strategy of “performance disruption.”
